So, I spent the day sitting at the hostel alternating between icing my knee and my ankle (for my Achilles tendon) and taking lots of anti-inflammatories. I also carefully rationed the number of times I went up and down the stairs. I played a fun fun game of how-much-can-I-drink-before-I-need-to-pee (the bathroom is downstairs).
I can’t believe I hurt myself on my first day back. I am giving my body (really just my left leg) 48 hours to heal and then I am going to decide whether to come home and recuperate and try again another time. OR my leg is going to heal like I am 25 instead of 56 and I am going to make a run for the Pennsylvania border. Keep your fingers crossed that I get to keep hiking!
